The Norstar Handsfree / Mute button activates and de-activates the telephone's built-in base unit microphone and speaker in place of the hand-held receiver.

The Norstar Handsfree / Mute button activates and
de-activates the telephone's built-in base unit microphone and speaker in place of the
hand-held receiver.
The Handsfree button is also used with a plugged in headset to
connect and disconnect from dial tone or callers. To use Handsfree with

The Handsfree button must be administered by your Norstar System Coordinator.
To use the Handsfree / Mute button press the Handsfree / Mute button instead
of picking up the hand-held receiver. To switch between using the Handsfree /
Mute either lift the handset from the telephone or press the Handsfree
/ Mute button before placing the handset receiver back into the craddle.
To use the Handsfree / Mute button for muting the active
microphone press either the Handsfree / Mute button or Mute button (
). Pressing the Handsfree / Mute
button or Mute button (
) again will
un-mute the active microphone.
To end the call either hang-up the receiver (if in hand) or
press the RLS button (
