Plantronics Phone Headset Outlet on Nortel Norstar Telephones  Headsets for Phones / Telephone Headset Icon

The telephone headset outlet for a Norstar phone (pictured above and located just above the Headsets for Phones / Telephone Headset Icon icon) is located on the bottom side of each phone set. To use a headset with a Norstar telephone the set must have a HANDSFREE button (
) or an ( Headsets for Phones / Telephone Headset Icon ) button.  The headset used must have a standard modular interface. This modular style interface is identical to the modular ends found on a standard handset curly cord.

Once a standard modular style headset is plugged into this special outlet that telephones handset, speaker and microphone will stop working. By design, the headset now takes over handling what the speaker, microphone or cradled handset provided before.

Note : To return to using the speaker, microphone or cradled handset ... simply un-plug the headset connection.

The HANDSFREE button ( ) or ( Headsets for Phones / Telephone Headset Icon ) button with a plugged in headset is used to answer / connect and disconnect / hang-up from dial tone or callers. The volume control bar ( Phone Volume Control Bar / Button ) is also used with a plugged in headset to adjust headset volume levels.
