The Norstar RELEASE buttons (pictured above) are used to disconnect, cancel or hang-up on an active call.

The RELEASE buttons are also used to end programming.

Programming a RELEASE into an external autodial sequence of dialing is done by pressing the FEATURE button ( <or> ) followed by pressing * 8 9 ( ) at the point where one wants to release a call.

When done this is normally the last sequence programmed to an external autodial, as it effectively disconnects or hangs up on an active call.
