The Nortel Norstar telephone has a testing mode that allows for testing a telephones buttons.

To test a telephone button press the Feature button ( <or> ) followed by pressing 805 then press the pound sign button / or NEXT once.

To proceed with testing a button and seeing it's defined function, press either the LCD Display button directly below the word TEST or press the Hold button ( <or> ). Now press the telephone button you wish to test. If the button pressed has an LCD indicator () beside it should show as lit.

If that button is a function button then its function will be displayed in the telephone sets LCD Display.

Pressing the RLS button (  ) will put Rls Button on the LCD Display shortly before returning to the Button Test display.

Pressing the RLS button (  ) again will exit the telephone from the button test mode.
